Duty Switch
I have an electric fan and it keeps burning out it’s ‘heavy duty’ switch which is 25 amp / 12v …?
What is the problem? Do I need a heavier duty switch?
Thanks.
So this is a 12v DC fan? or is it a 120v AC fan that you are trying to use a 12v DC switch on? If its an AC fan then the DC switch can’t handle the voltage. 25A @ 12V is only 300W, but 25A @ 120V(rms) is 3000W
What are the electrical specifications on the fan.
As the first answer has suggested, a relay would be a good idea for heavy current load devices.
